Nicole Kidman Delivers a Baby Girl

Wiser celebrities know that a long Fourth of July weekend is an excellent time to schedule major life events, as professional journalists generally spend the holiday (and a week or so afterward) groggy from the overconsumption of grilled meats. Sadly for Nicole Kidman, however, there was no available technician to fix a malfunctioning Celebrity Baby-Name Generator, and she was forced to consult a day-old page from the nurses' station's Bachelor calendar while filling out the birth-certificate forms:
The actress and husband Keith Urban welcomed their first child, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, on Monday morning, Urban's rep tells the Associated Press. The rep placed the infant's birth as "in the United States," but the Associated Press dateline says Nashville.
Urban posted a message on his Web site that said: "Earlier this morning Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. We want to thank everybody that has kept us in their thoughts and prayers. We feel very blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today." advertisement
The baby is the first for Kidman and Urban. Kidman has two children, Isabella and Connor, from her marriage to Tom Cruise. Kidman recently told Vanity Fair that she had a miscarriage early on in her relationship with Cruise, leading them to adopt.

Alex Rodriguez's wife filed for divorce Monday, calling her husband an adulterer who "emotionally abandoned his wife and children," the Associated Press reports.
"The marriage of the parties is irretrievably broken because of the husband's extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct," according to Cynthia Rodriguez's petition for dissolution of marriage, filed in the family division of Florida's Miami-Dade County Circuit Court.
The New York Yankees third baseman, who earned his 12th All-Star berth Sunday, has refused to comment on his relationship with the pop singer Madonna, who denied any romantic involvement with the slugger in a statement posted Sunday on people.com.

The friend thinks this is merely another one of Madonna's famous media-friendly self-reinventions. Coming up: One lucky couple at each tour stop will be invited onstage, where Madonna will personally destroy their marriage in front of thousands of screaming fans.
• Alex Rodriguez is so obsessed with Madonna that he will listen only to her music in the car and goes into a trance whenever one of her videos comes on at the gym, Dodd Romero, the former Yankees trainer and a godfather of A-Rod's two daughters, tells the New York Post. "Alex, God bless him, is lost," Romero says. "I think he got pulled in by the dark side, if you can say that nicely. He's totally brainwashed.
"He's more infatuated with the fact he's with an icon instead of realizing what's important, which is family and truth," the trainer says.
